Job Description
Fieldwork Brewing Company is a renowned independent craft brewery founded in 2015 in Berkeley, California. Over the past decade, the company has expanded across Northern California, establishing community-focused locations that emphasize exceptional beer creation and thoughtful hospitality. Known for its commitment to quality and honesty in brewing, Fieldwork Brewing Company offers a dynamic range of ever-changing fresh beer releases, attracting craft beer enthusiasts and casual drinkers alike. Each taproom provides a welcoming atmosphere where guests can enjoy award-winning beer paired with an inviting and community-oriented experience. The San Mateo location, one of the company’s key establishments, features a beer-focused taproom without a full kitchen, allowing patrons to bring outside food and fostering a relaxed and flexible environment built around great beer and friendly service.
The Fieldwork Associate role at the San Mateo taproom is a unique, part-time position perfectly suited for individuals passionate about hospitality and keen to contribute to a fast-paced and engaging atmosphere. This opportunity involves direct interaction with guests to deliver an exceptional taproom experience, from greeting visitors and taking orders to educating them about the various beer styles and offerings. The role demands an enthusiastic approach and a proactive mindset, requiring associates to anticipate guest needs and consistently deliver memorable service. As a hands-on position, it also includes maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the taproom and adhering to all operational protocols and alcohol service regulations.
Compensation for this part-time, non-exempt role starts at an hourly wage of $16.90, compliant with California minimum wage laws, with additional income from pooled tips that fluctuate depending on shift and business volume. The company ensures equitable labor practices, providing overtime, meal periods, and rest breaks in accordance with California law. Fieldwork Brewing Company values diversity and inclusion, welcoming applicants from varied backgrounds and offering reasonable accommodations as needed. This position requires weekend, evening, and holiday availability and is ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively in a friendly, guest-focused environment and who thrives in a setting that celebrates craft beer culture and community engagement. By joining Fieldwork Brewing Company’s San Mateo team, associates become part of a passionate community dedicated to both excellent hospitality and the craft brewing tradition.
