Job Description

Fieldwork Brewing Company is a distinguished independent craft brewery founded in 2015 in Berkeley, California. Renowned for its dedication to exceptional and honest beer making, Fieldwork Brewing Company has cultivated a reputation for producing an ever-changing lineup of fresh releases that captivate the palates of craft beer enthusiasts. Over the past decade, this company has expanded its presence across Northern California, establishing community-driven taprooms that seamlessly blend award-winning beer with thoughtful hospitality and engaging customer experiences. Their commitment to quality and community has made them a beloved brand within the region's vibrant craft beer scene.

The San Francisco location at China Basin Park represents the company’s innovative approach to brewery taprooms, offering a streamlined experience focused on a variety of fresh Fieldwork beers, non-alcoholic beverages, to-go cans, and small bites. Situated just steps from Oracle Park, this location emphasizes a welcoming and dynamic environment that caters to locals and visitors alike, especially during the exciting baseball season. As part of this spirited atmosphere, Fieldwork Brewing Company is looking to strengthen their team with passionate, hospitality-driven Fieldwork Associates who can thrive in a high-volume and fast-paced setting.

The role of the Fieldwork Associate is central to the smooth operation of this taproom. This part-time, non-exempt position pays $19.18 per hour along with additional income derived from a pooled tip system, which fluctuates with shift and business volume. The ideal candidate will be someone enthusiastic about providing outstanding guest service and supporting both front-of-house and food service operations. This is a hands-on role requiring flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a collaborative team environment. Whether greeting guests, managing orders through the POS system, running food and beverages, or assisting with prep work in the kitchen, the Fieldwork Associate embodies the spirit of thoughtful hospitality and community engagement.

Fieldwork Associates must have a genuine interest in craft beer and hospitality, as they are expected to maintain up-to-date knowledge of the company’s current beer selections, food options, and allergen information. A key part of the job includes educating guests on beer styles and pairing suggestions, creating an enriched experience that goes beyond serving drinks and food. Additionally, strict adherence to Responsible Beverage Service and ABC alcohol regulations, along with maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, is essential.

The work environment is dynamic and often busy, requiring individuals who are comfortable working in fast-moving situations while maintaining professionalism and a positive attitude. Physical requirements include the ability to lift between 25 and 50 pounds and the stamina to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods. Employees are also expected to participate in daily cleaning and prep tasks, complete side work, and assist with shift coverage as needed, making flexibility a valuable trait.

Fieldwork Brewing Company offers its associates meal periods, rest breaks, and overtime pay consistent with California and San Francisco labor laws. The company fosters a culture of equality and inclusiveness, proudly standing as an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to attracting and retaining a talented and diverse workforce. For individuals eager to join a community-focused craft brewery with a reputation for quality and hospitality, the Fieldwork Associate role at the China Basin Park location presents a rewarding opportunity to grow and thrive within the industry.
