Established as a trusted partner for industrial and government clients, Pace Analytical Services operates across the United States providing critical data and insights that help organizations comply with environmental regulations and minimize their ecological footprints. With a focus on science, service, and sustainability, Pace fosters a professional atmosphere that encourages continuous learning, growth, and a genuine commitment to environmental stewardship.
This opportunity is for a full-time Entry-Level Stack Tester / Field Technician position based in Minneapolis, MN. The role is designed for energetic individuals passionate about environmental science and eager to engage in hands-on fieldwork. As a Stack Tester / Field Technician at Pace, you will be directly involved in monitoring and measuring air emissions to safeguard community health and uphold federal environmental standards. The crucial nature of this job ensures you become a vital contributor to real-world environmental compliance efforts and the protection of air quality.
In this role, you will travel extensively throughout the U.S. to provide onsite stack testing services. Your daily tasks will involve utilizing advanced scientific instruments to sample and analyze various pollutants such as particulates, metals, acid gases, sulfur gases, and volatile organic compounds. The job uniquely combines scientific precision with physical fieldwork, as it requires working at elevated heights on stacks and rooftops, handling intricate equipment, and performing sampling following the strict guidelines set by EPA, NIOSH, OSHA, and internal quality assurance protocols.
Working as part of a collaborative team, you will interact with clients and technical staff, utilizing your problem-solving skills and communication abilities to support environmental compliance and maximize data accuracy. This position offers substantial physical and intellectual engagement, requiring the ability to multitask efficiently in dynamic, fast-paced settings while adapting to outdoor environments and variable weather conditions.
Educational requirements are accessible, with a high school diploma as a minimum, though candidates with associate or bachelor’s degrees in environmental science or related fields are preferred. While relevant work or field experience is advantageous, new graduates or those motivated to learn will receive comprehensive training. Applicants should possess a valid driver's license with a clean record, physical stamina, and comfort working at heights. Strong communication, basic computer proficiency, and mathematical aptitude are also essential.
This full-time position operates Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with overtime likely and occasional weekend hours available, accompanied by a shift differential. The compensation rate is $22.50 per hour. Frequent overnight travel (more than 50% of the time) is an integral part of the job, providing opportunities for personal growth and broadening professional experience. Pace Analytical Services offers a supportive workplace culture with potential career advancement within its nationwide network.
Joining Pace means contributing to a cleaner, safer future by protecting the air we breathe. You'll gain invaluable hands-on experience in environmental testing, backed by a company committed to employee growth and well-being. Benefits include 401(k) with company match, comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, paid time off including holidays, paid travel expenses, and certification assistance. Employees also benefit from wellness programs, tuition reimbursement, flexible spending accounts, employee assistance programs, parental leave, and additional voluntary protections.
As an equal opportunity employer, Pace Analytical Services embraces diversity and inclusion across all facets of employment. This role is ideal for driven individuals ready to launch or grow their careers at the intersection of science and environmental advocacy in a dynamic, impactful field.
