The Field Service Technician position at Liebherr USA Co. is a nationwide role requiring extensive travel across various job and customer sites throughout the United States. This exciting role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems, particularly focusing on All-Terrain, Rough-Terrain, Mobile Construction, and Crawler Cranes. The technician is integral to ensuring operational readiness and safety by performing commissioning activities, crane setups, operator orientation, as well as delivering preventative maintenance and quality checks. Job Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- One year of relevant experience with heavy equipment or machinery
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Ability to travel nationally and internationally up to 100 percent of the time
- Valid driver license
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and on call duty
- Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- At least one year of experience with heavy equipment or machinery
- Comprehensive knowledge of crane mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and on call as needed
Job Duties
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair crane systems including mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components
- Test equipment after repairs or modifications to ensure proper performance in line with manufacturer specifications
- Dismantle, reassemble, and inspect heavy machinery using hoists, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Conduct crane commissioning including setup, testing, and quality inspections to verify operational readiness
- Provide operator orientation, training, and demonstrations on crane use, safety, and maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts to maximize reliability
- Utilize mechanical and electrical theory to test, diagnose, and repair equipment issues
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, promoting a safe work environment
- Build positive relationships with customers, offering expert advice and prompt service
- Complete service reports, commissioning documentation, and paperwork accurately and on time
