Burckhardt Compression (US) Inc. is a prominent leader in the design, manufacturing, and servicing of reciprocating compressors for oil and gas applications worldwide. Established with a commitment to technical excellence and customer satisfaction, the company operates within the industrial manufacturing sector, specifically in the compression technology space. Headquartered in Switzerland with multiple global locations including the United States, Burckhardt Compression US specializes in delivering innovative compression solutions and reliable maintenance services for clients in various energy and process industries. The company is known for its robust engineering capabilities, a deep portfolio of products, and a strong focus on safety and environmental responsibility, making it a trusted partner in the upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas sectors. This role is on-site at the Weatherford, Texas location, reflecting the company’s dedication to hands-on service delivery at client facilities.
The Service Technician I position at Burckhardt Compression US Inc. entails a critical responsibility for the maintenance and service of gas engine compressor packages and associated equipment utilized in diverse applications. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and reliability of compression equipment essential for gas processing and production. The technician’s daily duties include performing monthly preventive maintenance and minor repairs, conducting troubleshooting to resolve mechanical issues quickly, and supporting major equipment overhauls. The Service Technician I is also responsible for on-site mechanical service, responding promptly to corrective maintenance demands, and collaborating closely with customers to foster strong relationships and ensure satisfaction with service outcomes. This role requires working in compliance with stringent safety and environmental guidelines aligned with Burckhardt's standards as well as client requirements.
Additional responsibilities involve supporting equipment start-up and commissioning, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of purging and loading procedures, and actively participating in safety programs such as Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) to uphold a safe working environment. Service Technicians are expected to report incidents immediately and contribute to investigations to continually improve safety performance. This position requires a hands-on and proactive approach to work, including accurate completion of daily service reports and communication with supervisors about resource needs and job planning.
The job requires physical stamina and capability to perform demanding tasks in industrial settings, including lifting up to 100 pounds, working extended hours up to 12 hours a day, and using fall protection equipment when necessary. A valid driver's license and the ability to use small hand tools are mandatory, as is the successful completion of OSHA-required health and safety training and respiratory evaluations. The company emphasizes mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in reading technical documents such as blueprints, P&IDs, and manuals. Candidates should possess a foundational understanding of gas and oil properties, compressor operations, and basic mechanical repair and assembly procedures.
Burckhardt Compression US Inc. provides an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to develop their technical careers within a renowned, safety-focused industrial firm. The position is classified as on-site employment, demanding considerable dedication to physical and technical tasks but offering the chance to work with state-of-the-art equipment and industry-leading experts. The role is ideal for candidates with at least two years of experience in compressor maintenance, diesel engine repair, or heavy mechanical work and those looking to expand their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.
