This opportunity is for a full-time Field Service Technician role primarily servicing the Mobile, AL, and surrounding areas. The role offers competitive pay, ranging from $38.05 to $44.25 per hour based on skills and experience. In addition to salary, a $3,000 sign-on bonus is available, alongside a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, tuition reimbursement, and much more.

As a Field Service Technician at Hiab, your mission will be to perform preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades, and refurbishments on a variety of load-handling equipment such as forklifts, knuckle boom cranes, loaders, liftgates, hooklifts, skiploaders, and hoists. The work will be conducted both at the Hiab facility in Houston and at external customer locations primarily throughout the Mobile, AL area. You will play a key role in maintaining excellent customer relationships by responding to inquiries professionally and ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality according to Hiab's customer satisfaction guidelines and quality systems.

This role demands a candidate who can inspect and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems efficiently. You will be responsible for keeping detailed service records, submitting reports, and identifying sales opportunities to share with management. Additionally, the position includes responsibilities for coaching and tutoring junior colleagues and trainees, reinforcing Hiab's commitment to knowledge sharing and team development.

Hiab values safety highly; you will be required to follow all applicable safety rules and working practices while staying up to date on technical developments through ongoing training initiatives. The position requires 100% travel and you must maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical operations experience
  • valid driver's license
  • ability to obtain and maintain a 1-year DOT Medical Card
  • no more than one moving violation in the last year or two violations in last two years
  • own tools required
  • ability to comply with Hiab USA operating and technical procedures
  • 100% travel availability

Job Duties

  • Inspect, perform service, troubleshoot preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades and refurbishment on equipment including forklifts, knuckle boom cranes, loaders, liftgates, hooklifts, skiploaders and hoists
  • follow applicable safety rules, agreed working practices and environmental requirements
  • stay up to date with technical developments and complete technical courses as required
  • respond to customer queries and concerns to maximize satisfaction and follow customer satisfaction guidelines
  • keep adequate records, maintain documentation and submit daily reports
  • recognize sales opportunities and communicate to District Service Manager
  • coach and tutor junior colleagues and trainees
