Southern is currently seeking a Field Safety Supervisor to lead and inspire a team of Field Safety Officers across multiple job sites. This role is vital in ensuring consistent safety leadership within Southern's field operations, which include crane, heavy haul, and specialized transportation activities. The successful candidate will focus on building people, fostering a strong safety culture, proactively minimizing risks, and helping crews execute their jobs safely and efficiently. The Field Safety Supervisor acts as the primary field safety leader who coaches teams, responds to incidents, oversees quality and consistency of safety protocols, and drives continuous improvement initiatives.

In this leadership position, you will have responsibility for scheduling, mentoring, and developing Field Safety Officers while ensuring safety processes are uniformly applied at all work locations. Your daily activities will include conducting site visits, performing ride-alongs, executing quality audits, and responding to urgent safety concerns or incidents. You will also lead incident investigations, validate reports, and participate in root cause analyses to recommend corrective actions. Reviewing safety reports and inspections for consistency and thorough follow-up will be key to your success.

By identifying recurring safety trends and collaborating closely with operations, you will play a critical role in implementing sustainable safety improvements. The Field Safety Supervisor also facilitates safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions, further reinforcing Southern’s commitment to operational safety. This role serves as a vital link between Field Safety Officers, operations leadership, and district safety management to ensure cohesive safety practices and compliance with all industry standards.

Ideal candidates will bring extensive experience in industrial safety or related fields such as heavy haul and crane operations. Proven leadership abilities, strong communication skills, and in-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations are essential to succeed. The role demands extensive travel between job sites and requires a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Certifications like OSHA 30-Hour Construction, First Aid/CPR, and preferably CHST are important qualifications.
