The role of Assembler 2 - Fiber Optic Assembler at MACOM is a specialized manufacturing position focusing on assembling and lensing fiber optic cables according to detailed product specifications. This position demands precision, dexterity, and adherence to strict quality standards in the fast-paced production environment. The assembler will be responsible for performing tasks such as aligning, fitting, and assembling component parts utilizing hand and power tools, preparing fiber optic cables for polishing, and verifying parts dimensions using precision instruments. The role requires working under direct supervision while maintaining a safe and clean workspace by following established procedures and regulatory compliance.
Candidates for this role should be familiar with assembly concepts and practices and have the ability to read and interpret assembly instructions and blueprints. Experience with microscopes for quality inspection is also essential to ensure the highest standards are met. Furthermore, due to ITAR regulations, only U.S. persons such as U.S. citizens, nationals, lawful permanent residents, or individuals granted asylum or refugee status will be considered eligible candidates.
This position offers a competitive salary range of $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on factors including work location, relevant experience, education, and skill set. Job Duties
- Align, fit, and assemble component parts into completed units using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and templates
- Prepare fiber optic cable for fiber polishing and complete the polishing process to specifications
- Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to blueprint specifications using instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges
- Examine parts for defects, repairs, reworks, and calibrate assemblies to meet operational tolerances
- Prepare work by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials
- Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements
- Maintain safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
