The role of Federal Work Study - Hospitality Education - Jamestown is designed for students looking to gain valuable experience in a professional kitchen environment while supporting the daily operational needs of the Hospitality Education Kitchen Lab.

This part-time federal work-study position offers students the chance to assist the Kitchen Lab technician with various tasks including food ordering, maintaining cleanliness, stocking refrigerators and freezers, and food preparation. The position demands attention to detail, strong work ethic, and the ability to follow sanitation and safety standards. Students will participate in stocking and inventory, supporting food deliveries, keeping accurate records, and helping execute special events related to the program. Applicants must also be physically capable of standing or walking for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds, as the role requires a hands-on approach to managing kitchen supplies and resources.

The job offers a wage of $15.00 per hour and requires a commitment to varied shifts between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., including one early shift and one late shift weekly. This scheduling flexibility helps meet the dynamic needs of the Hospitality Education Lab and its classes. Eligible candidates must be enrolled students who demonstrate financial need and have completed a financial aid application, consistent with the requirements of the federal work-study program.

The work environment is fast-paced and requires multitasking and excellent communication skills. Prior kitchen experience and certification such as ServSafe in Sanitation Skills are preferred but not mandatory, making this role accessible for those beginning their culinary journey.
