Job Description

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is a premier federal law enforcement and intelligence agency dedicated to protecting and defending the United States against terrorist and foreign intelligence threats, upholding and enforcing the criminal laws of the United States, and providing leadership and criminal justice services to federal, state, municipal, and international partners. Known for its mission-critical operations, the FBI combines advanced technological resources with highly skilled personnel to ensure national security and public safety. The Bureau continuously adapts to emerging threats, leveraging cutting-edge data analytics, cyber technologies, and intelligence to tackle a wide range of challenges including cybercrime, terrorism, fraud, and organized crime. It operates in a dynamic and often high-pressure environment that demands resilience, adaptability, and a steadfast commitment to justice and ethical conduct. The FBI is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion, ensuring fair consideration of all applicants without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, or other non-merit factors.

This particular role combines the unique expertise of data science, data engineering, and big data within the framework of federal law enforcement as an FBI Special Agent. Applicants with strong backgrounds in data science, cloud infrastructure, or Internet of Things (IoT) systems are positioned to significantly impact national security by applying advanced statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and data governance to prevent and investigate crimes that threaten public safety. As a Special Agent, you will transition from a specialized technical career to a law enforcement role that demands both investigative acumen and technical proficiency. Responsibilities include conducting complex investigations into federal law violations, particularly those involving cybersecurity and emerging technological threats. Your work will involve collaboration across multiple federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international agencies, fostering partnerships that strengthen law enforcement efforts. Physical fitness is also essential for this role to meet the operational readiness required of agents. This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $99,461 to $128,329 per year, commensurate with experience, base pay, locality adjustments, and availability pay. The role requires U.S. citizenship, the ability to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance, and a master’s degree or higher from a U.S. accredited college or university. The position is field-oriented with travel expectations, allowing you to deploy your distinctive skills where they are most needed to protect the nation. Joining the FBI in this capacity offers a transformative career path that blends data expertise with critical law enforcement duties to meet the challenges of modern threats innovatively and effectively. The bureau is committed to supporting agents’ professional growth and well-being through a collaborative work environment and a comprehensive benefits package, encouraging applicants who aspire to make a meaningful contribution to national security to apply today.
