Job Description
City of Loveland is a vibrant and award-winning city located in northern Colorado, renowned for its sunny weather with over 300 days of sunshine annually and its close proximity to the breathtaking Rocky Mountain National Park. Loveland is a thriving cultural hub that boasts a lively arts scene, numerous breweries, delectable food options, and abundant shopping destinations. The city’s rich community life is further enhanced by a vast collection of nearly 500 sculptures and public art installations, as well as unique events such as the world-famous Valentine Remail Program. Loveland also offers spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains, a variety of recreational activities, and several local festivals, making it an ideal place to live, work, and raise a family. Notably, Loveland was the only Colorado city to earn the Governor’s Award for Downtown Excellence in 2020, has been the state’s top residential recycling city for four consecutive years, and was recognized as one of the most idyllic and picturesque towns in America by USA Today in 2017.
The City of Loveland is currently seeking a dedicated Market Manager for the seasonal operation of its farmers market. This position is seasonal, lasting 10 months with less than 30 hours of work per week, and demands a proactive and organized individual who can manage various aspects of the market operations. The Market Manager plays a critical role in overseeing day-to-day activities during the market’s active season from June to September, with responsibilities extending into the pre- and post-market periods. The position requires on-site presence at the farmers market on Sundays during market hours, as well as off-site duties during non-market times.
Key responsibilities of this role include coordinating vendor and community booths, managing market logistics such as setup and breakdown, supervising volunteers and seasonal staff, and maintaining strong communication channels with vendors and city staff. The Market Manager is also responsible for planning events such as musical performances and food truck visits to enhance the market experience. Additionally, the role involves administering food assistance programs like SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks, ensuring vendor compliance and educating shoppers to promote these initiatives.
The Market Manager is also charged with financial record-keeping, including fee collection, vendor financial reconciliation, and invoice management. This role involves maintaining updated lists of vendors, volunteers, and community groups and fostering positive relationships to support vendor success. Promotional duties include contributing content for marketing efforts, managing social media accounts, and executing various community outreach initiatives. The position also requires adhering to city values such as accountability, integrity, collaboration, innovation, safety, and excellent customer service.
This role requires a valid driver’s license, and first aid and CPR certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire. Experience with market operations or similar roles is essential, along with strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. The Market Manager must be comfortable handling challenges with patience and sound judgment and demonstrate proficiency in computers and budget interpretation.
The salary for this position ranges from $17.33 to $23.40 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include employee-funded retirement plans and accrual of medical leave. The City of Loveland is committed to providing an inclusive work environment with opportunities for growth and development, a strong emphasis on work-life balance, and a culture that values diversity and equal opportunity. This opportunity remains open until filled, inviting qualified individuals to apply and become part of a thriving community dedicated to exceptional public service.
