Job Description

Monkey Business Cafe is the thriving social enterprise arm of HART Community Homes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young adults by providing them with workforce development, life skills, and meaningful employment opportunities. The Cafe operates through multiple platforms including a food truck, local farm, and the cafe itself, which all together deliver fresh, locally grown food to the community. Since its inception, Monkey Business Cafe has been committed not only to serving delicious, nutritious food but also to fostering a positive social impact by supporting youth development in the community.

HART Community Homes aims to help young adults gain independence and confidence by equipping them with the skills and experiences necessary for full participation in the workforce and in life. Through its social enterprise, Monkey Business Cafe, the organization merges sustainable agriculture, culinary arts, and community engagement to create real-world job training experiences. This includes farming fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs; preparing wholesome meals; and operating a food truck that travels to various community events and locations.

The Farm Worker / Food Truck Driver & Cook role is uniquely diversified, blending agricultural duties, culinary responsibilities, and food truck operations. This position is ideal for someone passionate about fresh food, community service, and making a meaningful difference. It offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to farm cultivation, food preparation, and customer service all while supporting HART Community Homes’ mission.

As a Farm Worker, you will be involved in planting, cultivating, and harvesting fresh produce, maintaining the health and safety of crops, and ensuring farm cleanliness and organization. You will assist with seasonal projects, farm upkeep, and training and supervising youth workers, helping create practical learning opportunities.

In the Food Truck Driver & Cook capacity, you will safely operate the food truck to attend community events and catering assignments, ensuring the truck is stocked, set up appropriately, and compliant with all food safety standards. You will represent the Cafe and organization with professionalism and excellent customer service, helping foster a positive relationship with community members.

Additionally, this role involves cooking fresh, high-quality meals with farm-grown ingredients, managing kitchen inventory, keeping the kitchen sanitary, and delivering exceptional service with a positive demeanor. You will work directly alongside young adults enrolled in HART’s workforce development program, modeling professionalism, teamwork, and a strong work ethic while supporting an inclusive and respectful environment.

This role offers competitive pay ranging from $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience, as well as opportunities to learn and grow in agriculture, culinary arts, and food truck operations. It is a chance to join a mission-driven team, make a lasting impact on young adults’ lives, and contribute to building a stronger, healthier community. If you are dependable, hardworking, and compassionate, eager to support fresh food, community service, and youth empowerment, this position provides a rewarding career pathway within a supportive and collaborative environment. Work is conducted in person, allowing for hands-on engagement with the farm, kitchen, and food truck environments.
