The Sushi Bar Cook III position is a key culinary role within the resort's food and beverage division. In this role, the cook is responsible for preparing sushi and related seafood dishes, ensuring that all food items meet the highest standards of quality and presentation. The Sushi Bar Cook III works closely under the supervision of the kitchen management team but also takes on leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Sous Chef. This includes overseeing kitchen personnel, monitoring food preparation, and ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. The role demands a strong understanding of seafood handling, culinary techniques specific to sushi, and the ability to train and mentor junior kitchen staff. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 2-3 years previous food preparation experience preferred
- Some professional culinary training preferred
- Possession of a food handler card
- Ability to obtain Serv Safe certification within six months
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking procedures
- Understanding of health standards and sanitation regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2-3 years previous experience working in a food preparation capacity preferred
- Some professional culinary training preferred
- Must possess a food handler card
- Must obtain Serv Safe certification within six months of employment
Job Duties
- Prepare food in quantities according to menu and number of guests
- Prepare food showpieces in accordance with the highest standards
- Handle various types of seafood such as crab, lobster, and shrimp to prepare cocktails
- Prepare sauces associated with menu items
- Assist in menu planning by taking advantage of foods in season and local availability
- Assist the kitchen management team in directing the activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals
- Assist in training and developing staff on techniques, equipment, recipes, preparation methods, and presentation as necessary
