The role of Food & Beverage Supervisor is based at the Courtyard Amarillo location in Amarillo, TX. This position is hourly and vital to the smooth operation and profitability of the food and beverage department. The Food & Beverage Supervisor is charged with overseeing all food and beverage operations on the property, including managing kitchen and back-of-house activities. The key focus is to maintain a highly profitable department while ensuring superior product quality and customer service standards are consistently met.

This role involves developing and marketing ideas to boost business, reducing employee turnover, and adhering to revenue and payroll budgets to maximize departmental efficiency. The supervisor will participate actively in forecasting, budgeting, and monitoring departmental performance, taking corrective actions as necessary. They are responsible for supervising all F&B personnel and ensuring compliance with local liquor laws, health and sanitation regulations, as well as company standard operating procedures. Attentiveness, friendliness, helpfulness, and courtesy towards guests, managers, and colleagues are fundamental expectations for this role.

Additional responsibilities include handling guest complaints promptly, coordinating loss prevention efforts, managing department inventories, and ensuring proper staff training on SOPs and technical tasks. The role demands a proactive approach in menu planning, procurement within budget, and maintaining the overall quality of service and products. The Food & Beverage Supervisor also plays a significant role in staffing by interviewing candidates, supporting hiring approvals, and facilitating continuous training to uphold service excellence. This position occasionally requires long hours and medium physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements

  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field
  • 4-year college degree with 3 years of related experience or 2-year college degree with 4 or more years of related experience
  • Proficient in Windows, company approved spreadsheets and word processing
  • Knowledge of F&B preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations
  • Must be able to work long hours sometimes
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written
  • Must be attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented
  • Ability to listen, understand and clarify concerns of employees and guests
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Must attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
  • Must participate in M.O.D. coverage as required

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Supervise and manage all F&B personnel
  • Respond to guest complaints in a timely manner
  • Participate in F&B budget, forecasting and monitor department performance with respect to the same
  • Monitor industry trends and take appropriate action to maintain competitive and profitable operations
  • Work with the F&B Manager and keep her/him informed of F&B issues as they arise
  • Keep immediate manager fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention
  • Coordinate and monitor all phases of Loss Prevention in the F&B department
  • Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner
  • Participate in department monthly/quarterly/annual inventories
  • organize and conduct department meetings on a regular basis
  • Monitor quality of service and product
  • Cooperate in menu planning and preparation
  • Ensure timely purchase of F&B items, within budget allocation
  • Oversee operations of the employee cafeteria
  • Ensure compliance with all local liquor laws, and health and sanitation regulations
  • Ensure departmental compliance with SOPs
  • Ensure the training on SOPs, report preparation, technical job tasks
  • Attend and/or conduct departmental and hotel training
  • Interview candidates for front-of-house and back-of-the house F&B positions and follow standards for hiring approvals
  • Conduct and/or attend all required meetings, including pre-convention and post-convention meetings
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
