This job opening is at a prominent resort that operates several dining venues including restaurants and bars known for hosting social and corporate events. The Private Events Manager role is integral to the resort’s success in its food and beverage sales and event management operations. This position focuses primarily on outreach selling, booking, and planning social and corporate events with attendance of ten people or more. The Private Events Manager is responsible for driving group dining and special event sales in the resort’s food and beverage outlets. This includes developing and maintaining relationships with social and corporate accounts to consistently deliver high-quality event management services. The role demands a strategic approach to maximize the utilization of venue space while optimizing the resort’s profit margins. It requires hands-on coordination from the initial inquiry through to the execution of the event, including proposal development, contract negotiation, and direct client engagement.
The incumbent will collaborate closely with various internal departments such as Food and Beverage outlets, Culinary teams, Sales and Marketing, and other operational units like Catering and Convention services. The role also involves external coordination with club members, potential clients, meeting planners, production companies, and vendors, ensuring seamless event execution. Excellent communication skills are paramount for this position, alongside a solid understanding of food and beverage sales and hotel operations. Computer literacy is essential, and the role involves considerable administrative responsibilities including data analysis and detailed event documentation.
The position requires a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel or Hospitality Management, though equivalent experience in related fields is acceptable. A minimum of four years of experience within banquet, catering, convention, or food and beverage operations is necessary to succeed in this demanding role. Physical stamina and the ability to multitask efficiently are essential given the need to manage multiple concurrent events and interactions throughout a typical shift. Job Requirements
- Hotel or hospitality degree at bachelors level or unrelated degree with relevant experience
- minimum 4 years in banquet, catering, convention, or food and beverage operations
- working knowledge of computer systems
- personal appearance and grooming commensurate with high profile job
- physical ability to lift 50 pounds and perform duties involving sitting, standing, stooping, bending for at least 8 hours
- ability to multitask and maneuver between simultaneous functions
Job Qualifications
