The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager (Temporary) position at the Hyatt Centric Santa Monica, part of the Viceroy Hotels & Resorts family, plays a crucial role in supporting the overall food and beverage operations within the hotel’s restaurants, bars, banquet facilities, and room service departments. This role is designed to assist the Food & Beverage Manager in managing daily operational activities to ensure profitability, high product quality, and superior service standards. The position is temporary with an expected end date of September 18, 2026, making it ideal for professionals looking to contribute their expertise in a dynamic luxury hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities include overseeing opening and closing procedures, maintaining compliance with hotel standards, monitoring quality control in food and beverage presentation and service, and delivering outstanding guest service that reflects the Viceroy brand’s commitment to excellence. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hotel management preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year of restaurant management experience
  • Previous supervisory or management experience in food and beverage
  • Ability to walk and stand for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs regularly
  • Ability to push and pull equipment up to 25 lbs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • RBS and ServSafe certifications
  • Ability to maintain grooming standards
  • Flexibility to perform additional duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Hotel Management preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous F&B experience in a hotel environment preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of restaurant management experience required
  • Experience in supervisory or management roles within Food & Beverage
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, hospitality standards, and cost control
  • RBS and ServSafe certifications required
  • Ability to maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance
  • Willingness to perform additional job-related duties as assigned

Job Duties

  • Assist in managing day-to-day operations across all F&B outlets including restaurants, bars, banquets, and room service
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures ensuring compliance with hotel standards
  • Monitor food and beverage quality, presentation, and service
  • Ensure guests receive outstanding hospitality and prompt resolution of concerns
  • Handle guest requests, feedback, and complaints professionally
  • Support initiatives to enhance guest satisfaction and loyalty
  • Supervise and schedule F&B team members and conduct ongoing staff training
  • Assist with performance evaluations and staff development
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering of supplies
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Enforce health, safety, and sanitation standards
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies and licensing laws
  • Assist in planning and executing banquets and special events
  • Prepare operational and financial reports
  • Collaborate with other departments to support hotel operations
  • Respond to guest complaints in a timely manner
  • Maintain visibility on the floor and assist staff during meal periods
  • Conduct staff performance reviews
  • Interview candidates and oversee hiring approvals
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs and requisition procedures
  • Complete tip reporting
  • Implement and monitor corporate promotions
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
