The role of Fan Experience Coordinator at BYU is a part-time position averaging 28 hours per week, offering an hourly wage along with retirement benefits. This position is instrumental in managing and expanding the fan engagement opportunities within the athletic department. As part of the Big 12 Conference, BYU offers an exciting and dynamic environment where you become a part of the university’s rich tradition of winning and reputation in collegiate athletics. The Fan Experience Coordinator is tasked with the leadership of developing, selling, and executing new experiential revenue streams aimed at enhancing fan interaction both at events and throughout the year.
This role focuses on monetizing fan engagement through new and innovative experiences to elevate the game-day environment. Beyond revenue generation, the coordinator is also responsible for overseeing the in-game production and fan experience specifically for Olympic sports, ensuring that every event is memorable and engaging. The position also includes overseeing a student internship program, providing mentorship, training, and career development opportunities for student employees. As a critical member of the athletic department, the coordinator collaborates with various university departments including Marketing, Ticketing, Special Events, Facilities, Corporate Sponsorship, and many others to ensure smooth operation and execution of fan experience initiatives.
Successful candidates for this role will demonstrate a strong understanding of BYU’s distinctive mission and vision, grounded in the gospel of Jesus Christ. They will be adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously, capable of inspiring and motivating volunteers and student workers, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. A passion for hospitality and the ability to create and maintain strong professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders are essential. The role also requires competence in marketing, event coordination, budget management, and graphic design basics.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- One year of intern or student experience in athletic marketing or related field
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Interest in developing others with patience
- Ability to motivate volunteers and student workers
- Basic skills in graphic design and Microsoft Office
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Must be organized
- Ability to maintain a budget
- Ability to create strong relationships with departments and partners
- Must possess hospitality skills
- Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- One year of intern or student experience in athletic marketing, advertising, or related field
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Interest in developing others with patience in teaching and training
- Ability to motivate volunteers and student workers
- Basic skills in layout and graphic design
- Competence with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Independent and self-starting

- Possess hospitality skills
- Understanding of NCAA, Big 12 Conference, and MPSF rules related to promotion and event management
- Knowledge of athletic marketing inventory preferred
- Understanding of BYU mission and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Job Duties
- Identify, develop, and sell fan experience opportunities surrounding game day and auxiliary events
- Spearhead advertising efforts to drive awareness, sales, and growth in collaboration with various departments
- Track revenue performance and provide regular sales reports and projections
- Prepare and distribute detailed event plans
- Coordinate with Special Events, Facilities, OIT Events, Risk Management, Dining Services, BYU Police, Corporate Sponsorship, and contractors
- Oversee execution of experiences and events, serving as primary operator for communication and on-site engagement
- Lead student employees in assisting with experience sales and execution
- Develop and implement marketing and promotion plans for Olympic sports
- Create scripts and fulfill corporate partner obligations for games
- Enhance game day atmosphere in collaboration with marketing team and other stakeholders
- Coordinate digital asset needs with creative teams
- Meet regularly with coaching staffs to communicate fan enhancement and in-game production plans
- Oversee student internship program scheduling and project assignments
- Mentor, train, and tutor student interns and volunteers
