Guardian Light Family Services (GLFS) is a dedicated agency committed to empowering families and fostering safe, nurturing environments every day. Recognized for its strong values rooted in supporting employees and promoting diversity, inclusion, and belonging, GLFS is a respected leader in family-centered care across Nebraska. The agency’s philosophy revolves around facilitating positive change in individual families and communities by equipping parents and caregivers with vital skills to create and maintain a secure home atmosphere. With a focus on personal growth and community health, GLFS stands out as an organization that not only cares about the families it serves but also the professional development and success of its staff.

The role of a Family Support Worker at Guardian Light Family Services is instrumental in achieving these goals. This position involves working directly with biological parents or caregivers and their children to provide one-on-one skill teaching aimed at ensuring a safe and thriving home environment. Family Support Workers are entrusted with the responsibility of transporting children to supervised visits with their parents, maintaining consistent and flexible schedules, and demonstrating autonomy while meeting assigned case hours. Regular supervision and ongoing training are integral components of the job, with weekly meetings and training sessions with supervisors, monthly agency-wide training, and additional external training opportunities available to enhance skills and support continuous professional development.

Family Support Workers at GLFS benefit from a competitive hourly wage of $20 to $22, with an additional $3 per hour differential for weekend work. This remuneration reflects the agency's recognition of the unique demands of working with families during non-traditional hours. Mileage reimbursement is also provided to support those who use their personal vehicles for work-related transport, alongside car seats provided by the agency when necessary. New employees participate in over 40 hours of paid training within their first 60 days, including job shadows and supervisor support, ensuring thorough preparation and confidence in their role.

Full-time employees enjoy a wide range of benefits designed to support their health, wellbeing, and financial security. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and paid holidays. Additionally, all staff have access to tuition reimbursement, employee assistance programs, medical transport ambulance insurance, supplemental insurance options, and generous referral bonuses. These comprehensive benefits underscore GLFS’s commitment not only to the families they serve but also to fostering a supportive workplace environment where staff can thrive.

In summary, working as a Family Support Worker at Guardian Light Family Services offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on families’ lives while enjoying a rewarding career with competitive pay, valuable benefits, and extensive training.
