The Family and Community Engagement Coordinator at CHS plays a vital role in strengthening communication and involvement among families, schools, and communities. Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in education or human services, preferred
One to three years of combined experience in education, human services, or community outreach
Florida driver’s license within 30 days of hire
Daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle
Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to build interpersonal relationships and collaborate effectively
Proficiency in computer systems and Microsoft Office
Ability to analyze data and identify trends
Respect for diversity in cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds
Willingness to make home visits and travel as needed

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education or Human Services field from an accredited university, preferred
Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted
One to three years of combined experience in education, human services, and/or community outreach
Demonstrated progressive responsibility
Current or former public school parent, preferred
Experience advocating for children and parents, preferred
Experience in building community relationships, preferred
Experience convening workshops, preferred
Experience working with families on educational or community issues, preferred
Fluency in Creole and/or Spanish, preferred
Knowledge of family engagement research and literature
Understanding of the public school system and communities
Proficiency in planning, organization, time management, oral and written communication
Skills in interpersonal relationship building, collaboration, and teaming
Competency in computer systems and MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook
Ability to handle confidential information
Ability to analyze data and identify trends
Respect for diversity in economic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds
Ability to host parent meetings
Ability to make home visits and travel as needed

Job Duties

Increase parent and community involvement and communication in schools
Assist in the implementation of an overall outreach plan to engage families
Organize and implement operations and logistical tasks for community engagements
Identify and support community action groups and centers of influence
Coordinate local marketing activities, awareness campaigns, and events
Provide information and recommendations for community engagement activities to management
Develop community outreach presentations
Provide advice for press release content and local media
Maintain accurate participation and engagement data
Build relationships with school leadership, staff, and families
Maintain a warm and inviting Parent Resource Center
Develop key community relationships and resource lists
Collaborate with school personnel to align goals and services
Coordinate educational opportunities
Overcome language barriers at gatherings and visits
Conduct home visits or phone calls to identify family needs
Support targeted programming for new family engagement
Prepare written documentation for activities
Possibly provide or arrange client transportation
Submit documentation timely
Contribute to a positive work environment by staying current on job-related issues
Participate in departmental meetings and training
Comply with CHS code of conduct and policies
Assist with training team members
Perform duties as assigned
