Job Description
Scholastic is a global leader in children's publishing and education, renowned for its dedication to fostering literacy and a love of reading among young learners. As a company, Scholastic has a longstanding commitment to enhancing educational outcomes through innovative programs and resources that empower students to become lifelong readers and learners. With its roots deeply embedded in the educational community, Scholastic serves schools, families, and communities by providing engaging content and meaningful literacy experiences.
The role of Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator at Scholastic Book Fairs presents a unique opportunity to be part of a mission-driven organization focused on literacy development in schools. This full-time, regular seasonal position is based in Florida and operates remotely from home, offering flexibility while allowing candidates to make a genuine impact through interaction with school communities. The hourly wage ranges from $22 to $26, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401k plan with company match, paid time off that encompasses vacation, personal, and sick leave, and a generous 50 percent discount on Scholastic merchandise. Additionally, the role includes access to a sales compensation program with seasonal and annual incentives.
Scholastic Book Fairs are celebrated for being engaging in-person events that encourage children to explore books in a vibrant, community-oriented setting. The Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator position requires an individual who can drive the success of these fairs within a designated territory by managing multiple facets such as sales, event coordination, and customer relationship management. Candidates will be responsible for expanding bookings and cultivating long-term partnerships that support student learning and development. The successful applicant will blend sales acumen with strategic event planning to maximize revenue and ensure that every fair delivers an impactful and memorable experience for host schools and their communities.
In this role, the candidate acts as a trusted advisor to schools, providing coaching on promotional strategies, recommending merchandising opportunities, and preparing event hosts to foster vibrant participation. The position demands strong project management skills and the ability to independently manage a portfolio of accounts, handle CRM systems efficiently, and meet precise performance metrics including fair count, revenue, and revenue per fair. It is an energetic, fast-paced environment where organizational skills, effective communication, and adaptability are critical. Emphasizing collaboration, the Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver consistent and repeatable results, reinforcing Scholastic's reputation as a leader in educational sales and event management.
Joining Scholastic means contributing to a cause larger than oneself—helping to build a future where every child has access to the joys and benefits of reading. The company values diversity, inclusion, and respect, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all employees and community members. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about education, skilled in sales and event coordination, and eager to be part of a company that makes a positive difference in children’s lives every day.
