Job Description
Scholastic Inc. is a global leader in publishing, education, and media dedicated to encouraging children's literacy and helping kids become lifelong readers. Founded over a century ago, Scholastic specializes in fostering a love of reading and learning through a broad range of educational materials, classroom resources, and community programs. One of its signature initiatives, the Scholastic Book Fairs, offers vibrant in-person experiences held in schools across the country. These fairs serve as dynamic events that inspire students to explore books and reading while uniting families, educators, and communities in support of educational development. As a company, Scholastic is deeply committed to inclusivity, respect, and welcoming all members within its book fairs family, ensuring that children, parents, caregivers, and employees feel seen and valued. This commitment extends to cultivating an environment that embraces diversity and actively supports lifelong learning.
The Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator role at Scholastic is an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals passionate about sales, education, and community engagement. This position centers on expanding and growing the Book Fair programs by partnering closely with school customers. Candidates will be responsible for managing a defined territory, developing a robust pipeline of book fair bookings, and maximizing the financial and experiential performance of each event. The position balances sales responsibilities—such as closing business, nurturing client relationships, and driving account growth—with event leadership duties including mentoring hosts to boost engagement, upselling programs, and ensuring each book fair operates as a high-impact event. This full-time, seasonal role offers an hourly wage between $22 and $26 and includes sales compensation via seasonal and annual incentives based on performance metrics like fair count, revenue, and revenue per fair (RPF). This remote/home-based role requires strong organizational and project management skills, resilience under tight deadlines, and the ability to produce consistent, repeatable results by engaging effectively with clients and internal teams alike.
