Scholastic is a global leader in publishing and education, committed to fostering a lifelong love of reading and learning among children. With a rich history spanning over a century, Scholastic specializes in creating and distributing quality educational materials and books that inspire young minds. The company operates in a diverse array of educational markets, including schools, libraries, and homes, emphasizing literacy development and educational empowerment. Scholastic's mission centers on using the power of books to enhance children's education and personal growth, making it a trusted name among educators, parents, and students worldwide.

The opportunity at Scholastic is to join their Book Fair team as a Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator. This role is essential in helping schools build stronger readers by expanding and growing the Book Fair programs. As a Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator, you will be responsible for working directly with school customers to drive bookings, maximize the performance of every book fair, and cultivate long-term partnerships that support student learning and literacy. Scholastic Book Fairs are vibrant, in-person events held in schools that allow children to discover and engage with books independently. These fairs bring communities together, aligning with Scholastic's broader mission to harness the power of books for the betterment of all children.

This full-time, hourly position is remote and is designed for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at project management, and has outstanding organizational skills. The role markets and manages a defined territory and portfolio of school accounts, with responsibilities including increasing fair count, revenue, and revenue per fair. You will blend sales and event leadership duties, including closing business, growing accounts, maximizing fair performance through strategic coaching, and ensuring exceptional customer experiences.

Beyond the sales element, this position requires the ability to manage customer relationships effectively, influence booking decisions, execute high-impact fairs, and consistently drive repeat business. As part of a collaborative team environment, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to meet and exceed territory performance goals. Scholastic values its employees and offers competitive compensation with a base hourly rate between $22 - $26, supported by a sales compensation program with seasonal and annual incentives.

The company also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a paid time off program encompassing vacation, personal and sick days, a substantial employee discount on Scholastic merchandise, a 401k plan with company match, and the possibility of having summers off. The anticipated start date for the upcoming onboarding and training class is August 31, 2026, making it an excellent opportunity for those seeking meaningful work and professional growth in educational sales. If you are passionate about literacy, enjoy building lasting relationships, and want to make a difference in children’s lives through books, this position at Scholastic provides a fulfilling career path that combines sales expertise with the mission to empower young readers.
