Job Description
Scholastic is a renowned global leader in publishing, education, and media, dedicated to supporting children's literacy and learning through innovative books, educational products, and events. Founded over a century ago, Scholastic has a long-standing commitment to fostering a love of reading among children, developing resources that empower educators, parents, and communities to nurture lifelong learners. The company operates in diverse markets worldwide, producing widely recognized book fairs, classroom magazines, and digital learning platforms that enhance educational experiences for students of all ages.
As a mission-driven organization, Scholastic's work extends beyond publishing; it strives to create engaging, inclusive environments where every child can discover the joy of reading. The company is widely respected for its dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that its programming and workforce reflect and celebrate the varied backgrounds of the communities it serves.
The role of Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator at Scholastic offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in education while building a dynamic sales career. This full-time, hourly remote position focuses on expanding and growing Scholastic's Book Fair programs, helping schools foster stronger readers and promoting student literacy development across diverse communities. With a competitive base hourly wage ranging from $22 to $26 plus sales compensation incentives, the position promises both rewarding financial prospects and personal fulfillment.
The Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator is entrusted with the responsibility of managing a defined territory and portfolio of school accounts, aiming to drive bookings, revenue, and revenue per fair. This multi-faceted role blends sales expertise with event leadership, requiring exceptional organizational skills, project management capabilities, and the ability to develop and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships. Successful candidates thrive in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines, demonstrating ability to influence customer decisions, grow accounts, and consistently deliver repeatable results.
Scholastic Book Fairs are immersive in-person experiences that bring communities together through the power of books. As a Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator, you will work closely with schools to maximize the impact and financial success of each fair, providing coaching on strategies to increase engagement, recommending revenue-generating programs and merchandising opportunities, and ensuring the fair runs as a high-impact event supporting literacy goals. This blend of sales effectiveness, event coordination, and relationship management makes this role pivotal in furthering Scholastic's mission to inspire kids toward greatness.
In addition to driving sales performance, the role supports customer retention by proactively managing re-bookings and strengthening partnerships to save at-risk fairs. Collaboration with cross-functional teams in a remote work setting provides an engaging and supportive environment, underscoring Scholastic's commitment to employee development and well-being. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off encompassing vacation, personal and sick time, a generous merchandise discount, 401k with company match, and a possibility of summers off, supporting work-life balance.
The anticipated start date for the next onboarding and training class is August 31, 2026. Joining Scholastic's sales team presents a powerful opportunity to contribute to educational success while advancing your career in a mission-driven, inclusive company dedicated to shaping the future of children's literacy.
