Scholastic is a leading global children's publishing, education, and media company dedicated to encouraging children's love of reading. Founded over 100 years ago, Scholastic is best known for publishing iconic series such as Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Clifford the Big Red Dog. The company operates across multiple platforms including print, digital, and video, reaching millions of children worldwide through a variety of educational products and services designed to foster literacy and lifelong learning. Scholastic’s mission is deeply rooted in improving student achievement and encouraging children to become lifelong readers, learners, and leaders. The company cultivates a inclusive, diverse workplace culture where employees feel valued and empowered to make a meaningful impact on education.
The current opportunity is for a Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator within the Scholastic Book Fairs division. This position is a full-time, seasonal, hourly role based remotely, designed for motivated individuals passionate about education and literacy. The primary focus of the role is to help schools build stronger readers by expanding and growing Scholastic's Book Fair programs. These fairs are immersive, in-person school events that enable children to explore and find books that captivate their personal interests and curiosity. Rooted in the mission to harness the power of books for the betterment of children, these fairs unite school communities and inspire students towards academic and personal success.
Sales Consultants are responsible for owning defined territories and a portfolio of school accounts. This role combines sales and event leadership, requiring skills in closing deals, account growth, event execution, and fostering long-term customer relationships. The consultants’ objectives include driving bookings, maximizing fair revenue and performance, and ensuring repeat business through exceptional customer engagement and program execution. This position demands excellent organizational and project management skills, agility in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, and strong communication abilities. The role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and leveraging CRM software to track pipeline and performance metrics.
Scholastic offers competitive pay ranging from $22 to $26 per hour, complemented by a sales compensation program with opportunities for seasonal and annual incentives. Additional benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a company match, paid time off that encompasses vacation, personal, and sick days, as well as employee discounts of 50% off Scholastic merchandise. The role offers the potential for summers off, making it an attractive option for educators and others seeking seasonal scheduling flexibility. The anticipated start date for the next onboarding and training class is August 31, 2026.
Joining Scholastic means working in a mission-driven environment alongside passionate colleagues dedicated to improving literacy and educational outcomes. The Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, identifying growth opportunities, and making a tangible difference in education through sales and event leadership. This role provides expansive professional development and career growth opportunities and exposure to multiple education markets and solutions. Scholastic’s values of diversity, equity, and inclusion ensure a respectful, welcoming atmosphere for employees, customers, and partners alike.
