Job Description

Scholastic Incorporated is a leading global children's publishing, education, and media company committed to helping children around the world become lifelong readers and learners. Founded in 1920, Scholastic has grown into a trusted brand renowned for its dedication to enhancing literacy development through a vast array of books, educational programs, and resources. The company partners with schools, teachers, and families to promote the love of reading and provide access to resources that support student learning and academic achievement. Scholastic's Book Fairs programs are immersive in-person events hosted in schools that provide fun and engaging opportunities for children to discover books tailored to their interests. These fairs not only foster literacy but also cultivate a community around learning, empowering kids to explore diverse literary worlds and develop reading habits that last a lifetime.

The Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator role at Scholastic presents a unique chance to contribute directly to this mission by helping schools build stronger readers. This position is designed for motivated professionals who thrive in dynamic environments and are passionate about making a meaningful impact on children's educational outcomes. Serving as a Fair Consultant, you will manage a defined territory and a portfolio of accounts, working closely with school customers to drive bookings, increase revenue, and optimize the performance of each book fair. The role blends sales expertise with event coordination, requiring candidates to not only close business deals but also lead the execution of impactful fairs that engage communities and maximize financial success. Responsibilities include coaching school hosts on strategies to boost traffic and sales, recommending programs and merchandising opportunities, and ensuring each fair delivers a memorable and successful experience for all stakeholders.

This full-time, hourly role is remote and home-based, emphasizing strong organizational and project management skills to juggle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. The position offers competitive pay ranging from $22 to $26 per hour, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off including vacation and sick leave, a 50% discount on Scholastic merchandise, a 401k plan with company match, and potential summer time off. Beyond compensation, Scholastic provides a supportive team environment with opportunities for professional growth, exposure to multiple educational solutions, and the ability to build a rewarding career in sales.
