Job Description
Scholastic is a global leader in publishing and education, committed to promoting literacy and fostering a love for reading among children and young adults. Established for over a century, Scholastic has crafted an impressive reputation as a provider of innovative educational resources, books, and learning experiences that inspire students to develop critical thinking, creativity, and lifelong learning habits. The company serves schools, teachers, parents, and children worldwide, continuously expanding its reach and impact through various programs and initiatives.
As a renowned publishing and education company, Scholastic's core mission revolves around using the power of books to aid children in becoming lifelong readers and learners. Among its many initiatives, Scholastic Book Fairs stand out as an extraordinary opportunity for children—and their communities—to engage in joyful, discovery-based reading experiences. These fairs take place within schools, where they unite families, educators, and students around a shared passion for books and knowledge. They provide children with unparalleled choices and access to diverse literature, empowering them to explore new genres, cultures, and ideas that align with their interests and educational needs.
The Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator position at Scholastic is a unique and rewarding role for individuals passionate about literacy and eager to build a career in sales and event management within a mission-driven organization. This full-time, hourly, remote position based in Florida offers a competitive base pay of $22 to $26 per hour, complemented by a sales compensation program with opportunities for seasonal and annual incentives. Employees enjoy benefits such as medical, dental, vision coverage, paid time off including vacation, personal and sick leave, a generous 50% discount on Scholastic merchandise, a 401k plan with company match, and the potential for summers off.
In this role, the Sales Consultant not only drives new and repeat business but also oversees the end-to-end success of Scholastic Book Fairs within an assigned territory. By developing strong, long-term partnerships with schools and educators, the Consultant ensures a robust pipeline of bookings and fair events that maximize revenue and engagement. This blend of sales and event leadership demands keen organizational skills, exceptional project management, and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
The position emphasizes relationship building and collaboration to support schools in executing impactful Book Fairs. Consultants guide school hosts on strategies to increase foot traffic and engagement, recommend and upsell programs that enhance fair performance, and ensure that each event is a high-impact experience for students and communities alike. Strong execution and follow-through are essential to maintaining high customer satisfaction and fostering repeat business. Additionally, Consultants manage customer outreach, track pipeline activity in CRM systems, and meet or exceed performance goals consistently.
At Scholastic, the culture revolves around respect, inclusivity, and a shared commitment to educational excellence. Employees are valued members of a supportive, collaborative environment that prioritizes professional growth and development. This role offers the chance to work with educational products that truly make a difference in children's lives while gaining hands-on experience in territory management, sales, customer relationship management, and event coordination.
If you are an enthusiastic, motivated professional who thrives on helping schools strengthen reading programs and empowering children through books, this opportunity with Scholastic offers a meaningful and fulfilling career path in a respected industry leader devoted to literacy and learning.
