Job Description
Scholastic is a renowned global leader in publishing and education, dedicated to supporting children's learning and literacy development through innovative and engaging products and programs. With a long-standing commitment to fostering lifelong readers and learners, Scholastic partners with educators, parents, and communities to deliver enriching educational experiences. The company is best known for its wide array of book fairs, which are dynamic in-person events held in schools. These fairs create magical and inspiring environments where children can explore, discover, and choose books that ignite their passion for reading. Scholastic's mission centers on the power of books to transform lives, ensuring every child, caregiver, and educator feels welcomed, respected, and valued as part of a diverse and inclusive family.
Currently, Scholastic is seeking motivated Sales Consultants and Event Coordinators to join its team in expanding and growing the Book Fair programs. This opportunity is perfect for individuals passionate about sales and education, looking to build a meaningful career while making a positive impact on students' lives. The role involves managing a defined territory and a portfolio of school accounts, where Consultants are responsible for driving fair bookings, maximizing the revenue and performance of each event, and fostering long-term partnerships that contribute to student literacy and community engagement. This full-time, hourly position offers a competitive base hourly wage ranging from $22 to $26, supplemented by a robust sales compensation program that includes seasonal and annual incentives based on performance.
The Sales Consultant position requires a blend of sales expertise, event leadership, and project management skills. Consultants will collaborate closely with school hosts to coach them on strategies that increase traffic, engagement, and overall sales at fairs. They will also recommend promotional activities and merchandising opportunities to enhance the event's success. Strong relationship management is essential to secure repeat business and nurture long-term connections with school communities. Working remotely from home, Consultants will utilize CRM systems for tracking outreach and performance metrics, manage customer communications proactively, and prioritize pipeline development to meet or exceed sales goals.
In addition to helping children access quality literature, this role offers a collaborative and supportive team environment with opportunities for professional development and career growth. The comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage; a generous paid time off program encompassing vacation, sick, and personal time; a 50% discount on Scholastic merchandise; a 401(k) plan with company matching; and potential summer breaks. This role is ideal for individuals motivated by mission-driven work, eager to contribute to educational outcomes, and ready to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting. The anticipated start date for the next onboarding and training class is August 31, 2026.
