Job Description
Scholastic is a leading global publishing and educational company dedicated to fostering a love for reading and learning among children. With a rich history that spans decades, Scholastic is renowned for its commitment to literacy development and educational support through innovative programs and products. One of its flagship initiatives, the Scholastic Book Fairs, offers vibrant in-person book-selling events held within schools across various communities. These fairs are more than just sales events; they are immersive experiences designed to ignite curiosity, encourage independent reading, and build strong literacy foundations for young learners. Scholastic’s mission revolves around the belief that empowering children with access to books and learning resources can inspire greatness and lifelong learning habits. The company prides itself on creating inclusive environments where kids, parents, teachers, and organizers feel valued and inspired as part of the Scholastic family.
The Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator role at Scholastic provides a dynamic opportunity to contribute directly to advancing the company’s mission by managing and growing the Book Fair programs. Operating within a defined territory, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving bookings, maximizing the performance of each fair, and cultivating enduring relationships with schools and customers. This full-time, hourly remote position pays between $22 and $26 per hour and offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and exclusive discounts on Scholastic merchandise. Starting August 31, 2026, new hires will engage in onboarding and training designed to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge for success.
The role blends sales, event coordination, and territory management responsibilities. Candidates will engage in active selling efforts, influence customer decisions, and focus on account growth by expanding school participation in book fairs. They will offer coaching and support to school hosts to enhance fair performance, suggest upselling opportunities, and oversee event execution to ensure excellent financial and customer experience outcomes. This position demands strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines. Candidates will work collaboratively across cross-functional teams while utilizing CRM tools to track performance and customer interactions.
Joining Scholastic means joining an organization committed to professional development, diversity, equity, and inclusion. The inside sales team benefits from a supportive culture that encourages collaboration and career advancement. Individuals passionate about education, literacy, and meaningful community impact will find this role rewarding as it offers the chance to develop a sales career within a mission-driven environment. The position also allows for a potential work-life balance advantage with the possibility of summers off. This role is ideal for motivated sales professionals eager to apply their skills towards nurturing a generation of lifelong readers and learners while contributing to the growth and success of Scholastic’s Book Fair programs.
