Job Description
Scholastic is a well-established global leader in children's books and educational resources, dedicated to helping schools and communities foster a love of reading among students. Founded over a century ago, Scholastic has a long-standing mission to support literacy and lifelong learning, reaching millions of students, teachers, and families through innovative products and programs. This company operates not just as a publisher but also as a service provider connecting books and educational experiences directly to school communities. With a presence in numerous educational markets worldwide, Scholastic is recognized for its commitment to making reading accessible, exciting, and impactful for all children.
The opportunity within Scholastic is for Sales Consultants and Event Coordinators dedicated to expanding the company's Book Fair programs. Scholastic Book Fairs offer an immersive, community-focused experience where children can discover books that inspire and empower them. These fairs take place in schools and are designed not only to promote reading but also to bring together families, educators, and students around the shared goal of educational growth. This role is essential in driving the success and growth of these fairs, focusing on sales, event coordination, and client relationship management. The positions are full-time and hourly, offering competitive pay ranging from $22 to $26 per hour, supplemented with a sales compensation program including seasonal and annual incentives. Additionally, employees benefit from medical, dental, and vision insurance, a robust paid time off policy covering vacation, personal, and sick leave, a 401k plan with company match, and a 50% discount on Scholastic merchandise. Notably, there is a potential for summers off, aligning with the seasonal rhythm of school-based programs.
In this remote, home-based role, the Sales Consultant will manage a defined territory composed of multiple school accounts. Their responsibilities include driving bookings for new book fairs, ensuring the success and profitability of each event, and building lasting partnerships with school stakeholders. They are tasked with hitting specific goals related to the number of fairs held, overall revenue, and revenue per fair (RPF). The role requires a blend of sales acumen, event leadership, and organizational skills to coordinate fairs that are both engaging and financially successful.
Consultants will work closely with school hosts to coach them on strategies to increase student and community participation, execute sales-boosting promotions and merchandising, and ensure each fair delivers an outstanding experience. They are also responsible for managing the customer lifecycle — from initial outreach and booking to follow-up communications and retention efforts. Strong CRM and sales automation skills are essential for tracking performance metrics and maintaining organized pipelines.
This role offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to children’s literacy while developing a rewarding career in sales within a mission-driven environment. Ideal candidates thrive under deadlines, excel in communication, and value collaboration within a supportive sales team. With an emphasis on relationship-building, strategic sales execution, and event management, this position is well-suited for professionals ready to drive educational impact and business results simultaneously. The next onboarding and training for this role starts on August 31, 2026, marking the beginning of an exciting journey with Scholastic.
