Scholastic is a renowned global leader in educational materials, dedicated to fostering a love of reading and learning among children worldwide. As a company deeply rooted in the mission of connecting kids with books, Scholastic has played a pivotal role in shaping literacy and educational content for decades. Known for its innovative programs and community-focused initiatives, Scholastic operates across various platforms including publishing, digital media, and school-based events. The company is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that every child, parent, educator, and community member feels welcomed and valued. Scholastic’s Book Fair program is one of its flagship initiatives, creating engaging, in-person experiences that encourage students to explore reading and discover new books that spark their imagination and curiosity. These fairs are more than just sales events; they are community-building occasions that bring together schools, families, and children with the shared goal of promoting literacy and supporting educational development.
The role of Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator for Scholastic’s Book Fair program is an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals who are passionate about education, sales, and event management. This full-time, hourly position is primarily remote, offering flexibility while providing meaningful work that directly impacts literacy development in schools. Sales Consultants are responsible for managing a defined territory and a portfolio of school accounts, driving bookings, and maximizing the performance of each fair. Success in this role requires a blend of sales acumen, project management skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with educators and school communities. The position involves influencing and securing bookings, coaching school hosts on strategies to increase engagement and sales, and leading the execution of book fairs as high-impact events. It entails a focus on delivering excellent customer experiences while achieving revenue goals and fostering long-term partnerships that support student learning.
Employees in this role benefit from comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits, a paid time off program including vacation, personal, and sick leave, and a 401k plan with company match. Additionally, they enjoy a generous discount on Scholastic merchandise and the potential for summers off, making it an attractive opportunity for individuals seeking work-life balance and a purpose-driven career. The compensation includes a base hourly rate ranging from $22 to $26 per hour, supplemented by a sales compensation program with seasonal and annual incentives. The role demands strong organizational abilities, effective communication skills, proficiency with sales automation and CRM tools, and comfort working in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines. Scholastic’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace is evidenced by its strict equal opportunity employment policies, ensuring a respectful and supportive work environment for all.
