Job Description
University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College (UA - Pulaski Tech) is a comprehensive two-year college and an integral part of the Arkansas Technical and Community College System, overseen by the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees and a dedicated seven-member Board of Visitors. Pulaski Tech is primarily supported through a combination of student tuition, fees, and legislative appropriations. The institution is committed to providing quality education and career preparation with a broad range of associate degree and certificate programs designed to support students aiming to transfer to four-year institutions or advance their career skills. Situated in North Little Rock, Arkansas, UA - Pulaski Tech is recognized for its dedication to student success, workforce development, and community engagement.
The college seeks faculty who are passionate about creating an engaging and effective learning environment reflecting the educational standards and mission of the institution. This particular position is a full-time, faculty role within the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute. It is classified as a non-tenure track faculty position involving a full course load of 30 credit hours annually, supervised directly by the department chair. The role demands a high level of instructional expertise, especially in culinary arts and hospitality management, to deliver comprehensive education and practical experience that meets academic and industry standards.
As a faculty member in this capacity, you will be responsible for developing and delivering thoughtfully structured curriculums and detailed lesson plans aligned with program and course objectives. You will conduct hands-on culinary and baking demonstrations, evaluate student performance, and provide constructive feedback to foster student growth. Your role extends beyond direct teaching to include participation in program assessment, accreditation efforts, and collaboration with advisory committees to ensure the curriculum remains current and relevant. This position also involves maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom environment tailored to diverse learning needs, reflecting UA - Pulaski Tech's commitment to equal access and opportunity.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining a visible campus presence through scheduled office hours, flexibility to teach classes during both day and evening times, ensuring the timely ordering of instructional resources and equipment, and contributing to the upkeep and cleanliness of instructional spaces. Faculty members are encouraged to engage actively in professional development, orientations, and college-wide events such as commencement and convocation. They also participate in ongoing evaluation processes for their professional growth and assist with culinary institute events, restaurant services, and career placement activities.
This role is ideal for candidates with significant industry experience, including supervisory or leadership roles in food preparation, and professional certification from recognized bodies such as the American Culinary Federation or Worldchefs. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a balance of technical culinary skills and effective teaching practices, highlighted by a required lesson plan and teaching demonstration during the selection process.
University of Arkansas - Pulaski Tech offers a competitive salary starting at $40,800 annually with benefits eligibility. The college is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment guided by policies such as Title IX, and it requires background checks to uphold campus safety. As part of the employment process, you must provide proof of legal work authorization in the United States. This role does not provide sponsorship. Employment is regular, full-time, and requires adherence to the institution's academic and professional standards, supporting the mission of UA - Pulaski Technical College.
