Job Description

University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College (UA-PTC) is a prominent institution within the Arkansas Technical and Community College System, governed by the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees and supported primarily through student tuition, fees, and legislative appropriations. Faculty members act as both instructors and facilitators, supporting students in their educational journeys through well-developed lesson plans, practical demonstrations, and constructive performance evaluations. This role requires flexibility to teach both day and evening classes, maintaining a campus presence through office hours, and active participation in departmental and institutional events.\n\nThe position entails a broad range of responsibilities including curriculum development, instructional material preparation, oversight of classroom and kitchen cleanliness, and collaboration with the Advisory Committee. Job Requirements

  • Associate degree in culinary arts, baking and pastry arts, hospitality management, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Certification or certifiable in CEC, CEPC, CCE, or equivalent through the American Culinary Federation or relevant certification body
  • Minimum of four years industry experience
  • At least two years supervisory experience in food preparation
  • Leadership and managerial abilities including excellent organizational, computer and communications skills
  • Understanding and commitment to equal access and equal opportunity

Job Qualifications

  • Certification or certifiable in CEC, CEPC, CCE, or equivalent through the American Culinary Federation or relevant certification body
  • Minimum of four years industry experience
  • At least two years supervisory experience in food preparation

  • Preferred three years experience as chef de cuisine, executive sous chef, or similar leadership role
  • Preferred bachelor degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Preferred current professional certification such as CEC, CEPC, CCE, or WCEC through recognized organizations

Job Duties

  • Deliver a high-quality learning experience supporting student success
  • Maintain office hours and campus presence in accordance with policy
  • Teach a full course load of 30 credit hours including day and evening classes
  • Participate actively in orientations, professional development, training, events, and meetings
  • Order necessary instructional materials, supplies, and equipment in a timely manner
  • Maintain cleanliness and oversee maintenance of classroom, kitchen, and storage areas
  • Develop and deliver course curriculums aligned with program learning objectives
  • Create detailed lesson plans and instructional materials
  • Conduct practical demonstrations and instruct students in culinary and baking techniques
  • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback
  • Communicate, maintain, and collaborate with the Advisory Committee incorporating feedback
  • Complete required reports including outcomes assessment, program review, and accreditation
  • Manage accurate student records and timely submission of syllabi, rosters, grades, and assessment reports
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment and adapt teaching methods to diverse needs
  • Attend faculty development seminars and assist with periodic program review
  • Support accreditation efforts through the American Culinary Federation and related organizations
  • Assist with Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management special events and restaurant services
  • Participate in evaluation and professional development processes
  • Engage in non-instructional activities including advising, committee work, and meetings
  • Assist with student career placement services
  • Pursue or maintain professional certifications related to culinary and hospitality management
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Promote the mission of UA-Pulaski Technical College
