Job Requirements

  • master's degree in hospitality, sports management, or a related field of study
  • or 18 graduate credits in the discipline plus a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in higher education
  • moderate amount of industry experience working in venue management, entertainment, event management, or sport management
  • ability to teach classes on campus during daytime hours

  • earned Ph.D. or DBA in hospitality, sports, or a related field of study (preferred)
  • experience teaching at the post-secondary level (preferred)

Job Duties

  • teaches assigned course(s) on campus by delivering appropriate course content to students
  • prepares course materials and lesson plans
  • grades student work
  • provides students with robust feedback in a timely manner
  • addresses students' questions and concerns
  • teaches assigned course(s) online by delivering course content, learning activities and assessments using the university's learning management system
  • prepares and maintains course site in the learning management system for dissemination of course materials, assessments, and weekly updating of the grade center
  • maintains accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement and performance
  • distributes to each student a university-approved syllabus including course objectives, required course materials, attendance policy and evaluation criteria
  • communicates early with the student, department chair, and academic counselor for any student in danger of failure or in need of individual counseling
  • refers students to appropriate university sources for support services
  • populates the university's faculty information system with data to establish teaching credentials and maintains data
  • attends faculty orientation and meetings as requested
  • performs other duties as assigned
