Job Description

This position is a Maintenance Technician role located within a chapter south of Denver, Colorado. The role is primarily focused on performing repairs and maintenance tasks across the organization's facilities, including office spaces, plant areas, and equipment. Reporting under general supervision, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for routine upkeep and specialized repairs across a variety of trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical work, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. The technician will conduct inspections to identify maintenance needs and prevent breakdowns, utilizing hand and power tools alongside blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings. Responsibilities also include supporting and providing guidance to volunteers involved in maintenance tasks.
The technician will handle tasks such as patching walls and ceilings, repairing concrete floors and steps, painting, minor electrical and plumbing fixes, and servicing boilers, motors, pumps, and other mechanical equipment. Landscaping duties like tending flowerbeds, pruning shrubs, watering, and snow removal may also be expected, alongside operating company vehicles as needed. Safety adherence and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations are paramount in performing all assigned duties. The role requires the candidate to reside within 45 minutes of the chapter, with a preference for those living south of Denver. This is a full-time position with an hourly pay range between $22.26 and $23.73, determined by geographic location, skill level, and experience. Job Requirements
- High school education or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience
- Skills in painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work
- Current valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools
- Ability to work on-call if required
- Must reside no more than 45 minutes from the chapter, preferably south of Denver
- Able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently
- Able to climb ladders as necessary
- Must meet physical requirements including vision standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Skills and knowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work
- Previous truck or bus driving experience desirable
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Outlook
- Experience with inventory management software preferred
- Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Customer service experience
Job Duties
- Maintain and repair organizations facilities and properties involving routine tasks and responsibilities
- Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings
- Repair or replace concrete floors, steps and sidewalks
- Paint structures and equipment as needed
- Install and correct minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems
- Document installation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies
- Install, operate and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps and related mechanical equipment
- Move and store furniture and equipment as needed
- Estimate time and material costs of various projects
- Requisition new supplies and equipment
- Plant and tend flowerbeds, prune shrubs and trees, water lawns and flowerbeds, spray fertilizer and insecticides
- Rake and remove fallen leaves, sweep walkways and staircases, remove snow using power equipment or shovels, apply snow-melting chemicals
- Drive vehicle to other locations
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
