The Penske Facility Maintenance Technician role is based in their Lockport, Illinois warehouse and offers an hourly pay rate of $33.00. This position works primarily during the first shift from Sunday to Wednesday between 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The Facility Maintenance Technician will perform critical maintenance and preventative tasks across multiple areas including mobile equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, dock doors, concrete floor repair, painting, carpentry, rack repair, and related facilities upkeep. The role requires working in a warehouse environment where temperatures can vary greatly, ranging from 34 percent to 95 percent.

This position suits individuals who possess a strong technical skill set in industrial repair and upkeep, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently. The technician will be responsible for performing daily equipment rounds, repairs, inspections, and adjustments, maintaining the operational efficiency of the warehouse. They will also participate actively in the company's Safety Committee to help maintain a secure work environment and be a vital point of contact during off-shift hours for any facility-related emergencies or issues.

Job Requirements

  • 2-year associate degree or equivalent from a technical school
  • 3 years’ experience in an industrial setting or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be able to read, write and understand verbal communication in English
  • Working knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance and repair including fire systems, chains, bearings, gearboxes, motors, conveyor belts and lifts
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical maintenance and repair including voltages from 110v to 480v 3 phase, wiring, fuses, relays and ability to comprehend electrical schematics
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as frequent movement, standing, walking, climbing, bending, sitting for extended periods, lifting and moving up to 50lbs regularly and up to 100lbs occasionally
  • Ability to work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to see and hear properly for safety
  • Ability to push and pull heavy truck tires exceeding 100 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • 2-year associate degree or equivalent from a technical school

Job Duties

  • Complete daily equipment rounds and make repairs as required
  • Perform repairs on plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Contact vendors as necessary
  • Participate in Safety Committee meetings to ensure a safe work environment
  • Perform work order repairs, inspections and adjustments
  • Support operations department by providing suggestions and developing solutions
  • Serve as a point of contact during off shift hours for facilities issues
