Job Description
U-Haul is a well-established company founded in 1945, known primarily as a leader in the moving and storage industry. The company was born out of a necessity for do-it-yourself moving equipment available on a one-way, nationwide basis. The founders, L.S. "Sam" Shoen and Anna Mary Carty Shoen, envisioned and executed a model that allowed for shared usage of moving equipment, greatly enhancing the mobility of populations across the U.S. and Canada. U-Haul has since grown into a major provider of moving trucks, trailers, and storage solutions, with a reputation for exceptional customer service and innovative logistics solutions.
The company culture advocates health and wellness, maintaining policies that encourage a healthy lifestyle and safe working environment for all employees. U-Haul Holding Company and its affiliates have implemented policies consistent with applicable laws, including restrictions on the hiring of nicotine product users in certain states. The company is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusiveness, providing accommodations during the selection process as needed.
The Facility Housekeeper role at U-Haul is a critical position within the company’s operations, focusing on maintaining the cleanliness and safety of U-Haul facilities. This role contributes directly to the company’s promise of providing a clean and welcoming environment for customers, which is essential for maintaining U-Haul's high standards for customer service. Facility Housekeepers are responsible for cleaning storage units, hallways, restrooms, elevators, and other parts of the facility, ensuring that all areas are neat, safe, and well-maintained.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are organized, detail-oriented, and proactive. The position offers immediate start and pay, with a sign-on bonus for new hires, showcasing U-Haul’s commitment to rewarding its workforce from day one. Employees in this role receive on-the-job training, career stability, advancement opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package that supports their well-being and future growth. This includes life insurance, legal programs, auto and home insurance, discounts on technology and travel, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, retirement plans, health insurance, dental and vision plans, pet plans, subsidized gym memberships, business and travel insurance, and employee assistance programs.
Facility Housekeepers must present themselves in proper U-Haul attire while on duty and are expected to communicate effectively with storage customers regarding unit-related issues. The role requires physical stamina to handle moderate physical demands like lifting up to 50 pounds and working around moving equipment. Safety is paramount, with required use of protective clothing and precautionary measures to mitigate exposure to irritants or hazards.
U-Haul supports continuous learning through U-Haul University, encouraging Facility Housekeepers to engage in ongoing education and professional development. This role is well-suited for self-starters who are punctual, have strong communication skills, and a willingness to tackle multiple tasks efficiently. Joining U-Haul means becoming part of a supportive team with a shared commitment to excellence, making it an ideal workplace for those seeking to build a long-term career in the service industry.
