Job Description

The Broward County Public Schools is a large and diverse educational institution committed to providing a safe, clean, and nurturing learning environment for students and staff across numerous schools and facilities. As a public school district located in Florida, it serves thousands of students with the goal of fostering educational excellence and community support. The district is recognized for its dedication to employing skilled professionals who contribute various essential services, including maintenance and custodial support, to ensure an optimal school environment. Broward County Public Schools emphasize safety, efficiency, and quality in all aspects of its operations, striving to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in school buildings and properties.

The role of Facilities Serviceperson within Broward County Public Schools is a vital position responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety across multiple school facilities. Facilities Servicepersons ensure that designated areas such as cafeterias, restrooms, offices, gymnasiums, halls, and outdoor spaces are cleaned, sanitized, and maintained according to established custodial standards. The job requires a strong work ethic to perform tasks including mopping, scrubbing, waxing floors, emptying trash, cleaning furniture, replacing light bulbs, and minor repair work.

Candidates will need to be physically capable of handling heavy labor such as lifting, moving furniture, climbing ladders, and operating heavy cleaning machinery including shampooers and scrubbers. The position requires adherence to safety protocols and compliance with Federal, State, and School Board policies. The Facilities Serviceperson will also be involved in regular equipment maintenance, managing supplies, and reporting any maintenance and structural issues requiring attention. The work schedule aligns with the school calendar and the applicant should expect to complete a basic facilities service training program and certification during the probationary period.

This role is suitable for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, take pride in maintaining a clean environment, and can work collaboratively with other team members and supervisors. The starting hourly wage ranges from $15.84 to $27.29, ensuring competitive compensation in line with district standards. Employees will benefit from a comprehensive program designed to enhance skills and ensure proficiency in all job-related tasks. The Facilities Serviceperson position is a long-term opportunity to be part of a respected public school system, contributing directly to the health and well-being of students and staff through excellent facilities service management.
