The role available is for a Custodian/Housekeeper within the warehouse and facility operations of St. Mary's Food Bank. This position is crucial to maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the food bank’s premises, directly supporting the smooth functioning of daily activities. As a custodian, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that designated areas are clean, tidy, and properly stocked with necessary supplies. The role involves routine cleaning duties such as dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning restrooms, and restocking disposables like tissue and sanitary bags. Additional responsibilities include carrying out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects, operating floor scrubbers and pallet jacks, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in custodian or housekeeping
  • Ability to operate floor scrubbers and pallet jacks
  • Ability to lift or move 50 lbs
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets

Job Duties

  • Ensuring spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces
  • Clean and supply designated areas including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents and restroom cleaning
  • Washing and disinfecting toilets, sinks and restocking disposables such as tissue, seat covers, sanitary bags and hand towels
  • Wipe and disinfect mirrors, windows and doors
  • Document routine cleaning and maintenance needs
  • Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects
  • Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
  • Stock and maintain supply cage
  • Cooperate with the rest of the staff
  • Follow all health and safety regulations
  • Perform other duties and administrative functions as assigned by the Warehouse Management
