The University of Mississippi Medical Center is currently recruiting for the full-time position of Facilities Monitor in the Transportation and Parking department. This hourly role is crucial in maintaining safety and order throughout the campus by monitoring premises and interacting with the public regarding smoking and parking regulations. The Facilities Monitor acts as a key point of contact for ensuring compliance with policies designed to improve campus life and safety. Responsibilities include patrolling campus grounds, providing information and assistance, and managing improper parking and smoking activities. Proven ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff is vital to success in this position. The role demands excellent observational skills and the capacity to respond appropriately to concerns and complaints.
This position requires working in diverse physical environments, which may include exposure to noise, temperature extremes, hazardous materials, and the need to handle potentially dangerous equipment. Physical demands include frequent walking and standing, lifting heavy items occasionally, and traveling constantly across campus and offsite locations. This dynamic role requires the flexibility to adjust to seasonal and clinical volume changes while maintaining a vigilant presence. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, hold a valid driver’s license, and preferably have prior experience engaging with the public. Job Duties
- Patrols campus and interacts with public and staff as needed to control smoking or parking in unauthorized areas

- communicates suspicious activity to appropriate authorities
- maintains a safe and orderly environment on campus
- responds to concerns and complaints regarding smoking and parking
