The role of Facilities Technician at United Airlines is integral to the maintenance and smooth operation of the airline's facilities and aircraft support systems. This position is part of the Technical Operations team, which consists of skilled aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment specialists, facilities professionals, and supply chain experts. Facilities Technicians are responsible for ensuring that the airport facilities and supporting infrastructure are in optimal condition to enable efficient and safe flight operations.

In this role, you will be tasked with performing a variety of electrical and mechanical maintenance duties. Your work will focus heavily on general building maintenance, especially involving electrical troubleshooting and repairs related to AC and DC circuits, high voltage systems, and industrial wiring. Experience with 110/220/480 volt single and multiphase electrical circuitry is critical, as is the ability to read and follow wiring schematics and work independently.

Beyond electrical tasks, the role also demands proficiency in related trades such as air handling unit maintenance, plumbing and steam fitting, fire system management, and conveyor system maintenance. Facilities Technicians must be versatile and able to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor shifts in all kinds of weather, and must be available to work around the clock, inclusive of weekends and holidays. The work schedule is seniority-based and shifts are bid accordingly. This is a unionized position represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, with salary increases and union membership governed by the current IBT/United contract.

The Facilities Technician role is ideal for candidates with at least 24 months of relevant experience across multiple building maintenance disciplines including electrical, structural, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and computer controls. A high school diploma or GED is required, as well as the ability to comfortably work at heights, lift moderate weights, and use necessary tools for the job. Proficiency with computers for data input and retrieval is also expected. This position requires a valid and clean state driver's license.   • Work indoors outdoors elevated areas on airport
  • Ability to climb work from ladders and walk for extended periods
  • Moderate lifting capability
  • Possess sufficient tooling for tasks
  • Computer experience for data input retrieval
  • Immediate availability for full time employment
  • Valid clean state driver's license

Job Duties

  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and repair including AC and DC circuits and high voltage systems
  • Read and follow wiring schematics
  • Make low and high voltage repairs to building electrical equipment
  • Solve, install, and repair 110/220/480 volt single and multiphase electrical circuitry and devices
  • Maintain and repair related building equipment such as air handling units, plumbing, fire systems, and conveyors
  • Work around the clock shifts including weekends and holidays in all weather conditions
  • Adhere to union regulations and participate in seniority-based scheduling
