The Summit Center is currently seeking a Facilities Custodian to join their team in Amherst, NY. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, security, and functionality of the agency’s facilities. It offers a stable schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, totaling 37.5 hours per week, with some flexibility required to accommodate potential early starts for snow response and occasional weekend work, approximately one Saturday or Sunday per month for about two hours. The hourly pay rate for this role is $19.17, reflecting the organization’s commitment to fair compensation.

As a Facilities Custodian, the individual will be responsible for general cleaning, upkeep, and basic maintenance tasks across assigned agency properties. This includes maintaining classrooms and common areas, handling school materials and office supplies, assisting with moving furniture and equipment, and ensuring building security. The custodian will also be involved in grounds maintenance and will support facilities maintenance technicians with various duties as needed. Flexibility in schedule and willingness to fill in when other staff are absent are essential aspects of this role, as the agency’s operating hours and needs can vary.

Job Requirements

  • At least 6 months of previous cleaning experience
  • ability to accommodate potential early start for snow response

  • agency approval of driving record according to agency's policy and procedures

  • Participate in the cleaning and maintenance of classrooms and other areas of the agency's property
