The role of Facilities and Special Project Assistant is critical within the organization, reporting directly to the Director of Facilities and Construction. This full-time position is located in Jacksonville, TX, and requires the candidate to live within a 30-mile radius of the city to facilitate on-site project management effectively. The Facilities and Special Project Assistant serves as a pivotal support role in coordinating all activities related to the construction and opening of new stores. This includes handling bids from contractors, securing necessary permits, and ensuring the timely completion and opening of new facilities.

The position also involves overseeing due diligence tasks such as zoning verification, permitting, utility coordination, and equipment orders, alongside managing relationships with civil engineers and architects. Additionally, the role extends to assisting in special projects like repairing and replacing damaged infrastructure, performing plumbing and concrete repairs, facilitating interior and exterior construction efforts, and directing major HVAC system maintenance and repairs. An important aspect of this job is the development and implementation of preventative maintenance schedules aimed at reducing costs related to maintenance and utility usage.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Three to five years related construction experience
  • Good coaching, negotiation, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to interpret and respond to legal documents related to construction and maintenance bids and specifications
  • Must live within a 30 mile radius of Jacksonville, TX

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with college preferred
  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Three to five years related construction experience
  • Good coaching, negotiation, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to carry out duties and assignments independently
  • Ability to interpret and respond to legal documents regarding construction and maintenance bids and specifications

Job Duties

  • Takes lead on special construction projects from inception to completion
  • Maintains a warranty tracking system for special construction projects to ensure necessary repairs covered under warranties are properly filed and paid
  • Develops cost saving ideas regarding utility costs and implements and trains each store location on these ideas
  • Assists with timely planning for the completion and opening of new facilities including ensuring all utilities are located at the property line
  • Ensures proper zoning and drive through is allowed by right
  • Engages surveyors and geotechnical companies for projects
  • Coordinates equipment purchases and assures timely and cost efficient delivery and installation
  • Assists in developing, organizing, and executing plans for new store openings
