Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- minimum 1 year of experience as an extrusion machine operator in a manufacturing setting
- ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts including nights and weekends
- strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- good communication skills both verbal and written
- ability to perform quality inspections and maintain accurate records
- familiarity with safety protocols and wearing required PPE
- reliable attendance and punctuality
- able to physically handle the demands of the job including manual dexterity and standing for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- 1+ years working in a manufacturing environment as an extrusion machine operator
- experience and willingness to work 12 hour rotating schedules including every other weekend
- ability to show up for work prior to shift and be prepared to get the day going on time
- strong problem solving and troubleshooting experience working with extrusion machines
- excellent communication skills, detailed record keeping per the prescribed frequency
- analytical and math skills
- ability to perform quality checks and have an understanding of production measurement tools
- knowledge of product quality standards
- comfortable wearing PPE such as hairnets, beard-nets, steel toed shoes/boots, ear protection and bump-caps when required
- manual dexterity
Job Duties
- Consistently and safely operates machines at or above standard levels of operation including waste, quality, efficiency and utilization
- trouble shoot, identify and correct machine related problems through proper adjustments to various parts of the machine
- provide innovative solutions for production issues
- provides support and guidance to less experienced personnel
- completes appropriate end of shift paperwork, accounting for crewing time, machine time, and production quantities
- able to inspect and recognize defective product and make machine adjustments to correct cause of defects
- observes all housekeeping, standard work and safety guidelines
- mechanical aptitude, demonstrated problem solving skills and effective communication skills - written and verbal are required
