Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a key division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a comprehensive broadline foodservice distributor dedicated to supporting a diverse range of customers. These include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company stands out by fostering close partnerships not only through reliable food delivery but also by offering expert guidance from a team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other specialists. This team works closely with clients to enhance operations, develop menus, select the best products, and shape effective operational strategies. Performance Foodservice’s mission goes beyond simply delivering food; the company is committed to empowering independent restaurant owners to realize their business goals and dreams.
Performance Foodservice is known for its commitment to a safe and inclusive work environment where teamwork, recognition, and respect are core values. The company offers competitive pay and benefits, including day one health and wellness coverage, a robust employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer match, education assistance, paid time off, and various growth opportunities for employees. This inclusive culture ensures that every employee has the opportunity to thrive in their role while positively contributing to the community they serve.
The Delivery Driver role at Performance Foodservice is critical to the food supply chain in America. Drivers are responsible for transporting food and food service products safely and punctually from warehouse to customer. This position involves operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on various routes that may include day, night, overnight layover, and transit schedules with flexibility needed to cover different routes as operational demands require. Drivers help maintain the integrity of fresh and frozen products through careful handling and ensure all deliveries meet quality standards. They are the frontline representatives of the company, building meaningful relationships with customers through consistent professionalism and reliable service.
This role requires a high level of responsibility to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations while conducting thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain safety standards. Delivery drivers must actively communicate with customers, co-workers, and vendors to provide accurate information and exceptional service. Additionally, they handle necessary paperwork accurately, collect payments when required, and follow company policies for the secure loading and unloading of freight. Drivers also perform routine housekeeping duties to maintain their equipment and work area, contributing to operational efficiency.
Employment for this position is full-time, typically requiring between 40 to 70 hours per week. The schedule involves a 4 to 5-day work week, with dispatch times ranging mostly between 2:00 to 6:00 AM and availability needed Monday through Saturday.
A $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered to new drivers who have not worked with any PFG-owned company in the prior six months, underscoring the company's commitment to attracting dedicated professionals to their team. Overall, this position represents a valuable opportunity for individuals with commercial driving experience to grow their careers within an established and reputable organization dedicated to delivering quality food products across America.
