Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline food distributor in the United States. The company serves a diverse array of customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a strong emphasis on building long-lasting relationships, the company takes pride in not just delivering food products but also providing expert advice on operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies. This commitment has positioned Performance Foodservice as a trusted partner in the foodservice industry, supporting businesses by helping them streamline processes and improve their overall service offerings.

Performance Foodservice values its team members and strives to maintain a safe, inclusive, and rewarding work environment. The company offers competitive pay and benefits that begin from day one, including health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and numerous other advantages. The organization's culture emphasizes rewards, recognition, and respect for all employees, making it a workplace where individuals can grow and thrive.

The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice plays an essential part in the company’s food supply chain. These drivers are responsible for delivering food and food-related products to customers safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This role requires operating tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local runs, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle services, overnight deliveries, and transit routes. Drivers also have opportunities to cover a flexible extra board and potentially establish consistent routes based on operational needs.

The position includes a 4-5 day workweek with dispatch times between 2:00 and 6:00 AM, with availability required Monday through Saturday. Depending on the assigned route, hours range from 40 to 70 per week. Pay starts at $100,000 or more annually, with a sign-on bonus of $2,000 for eligible candidates. The drivers undergo routine safety inspections, adhere to all DOT regulations, and are required to report any safety issues promptly. The role demands hands-on interaction, including loading, unloading, securing freight, and maintaining proper documentation for all deliveries.

This position is pivotal as drivers represent the face of the company to its customers, ensuring that service quality and professional communication standards are upheld. CDL-A Drivers must be adept at handling various equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to manage freight cases that typically weigh between 60 to 90 pounds. The role also requires meeting stringent safety guidelines while supporting a team-based environment. Successful candidates will be able to communicate effectively in English and meet all regulatory requirements, including passing drug tests, road tests, and securing DOT medical certification.

Overall, the CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice offers a rewarding career with a reputable company known for its dedication to the foodservice industry and its employees.
