The Assistant General Manager position at Extended Stay America - Atlanta - Northlake is a dynamic and rewarding role designed for a hospitality professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about creating memorable guest experiences. This overtime eligible manager role involves overseeing multiple hotel departments, assisting the General Manager, and ensuring daily operations run smoothly and efficiently. The Assistant General Manager will take charge in the absence of the General Manager, maximizing hotel profitability, managing costs, and leading a diverse team of hospitality professionals.

This role requires exceptional leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication to foster a collaborative work environment. The Assistant General Manager will also be instrumental in recruiting, hiring, and training guest services staff, ensuring all team members have opportunities for growth through ongoing development and training programs. Comfort with financial management and reporting is essential to support operational decisions, along with proficiency in Windows Operating Systems for management and reporting tasks.

In addition to overseeing operational standards, the Assistant General Manager will champion a professional appearance and adherence to company grooming guidelines. Embodying a friendly and service-focused attitude toward both guests and staff, the successful candidate will help cultivate an atmosphere where every guest interaction is a positive and warm experience. Certifications such as Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid are required or must be obtained, reflecting the commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Job Requirements

  • At least five years of progressive hotel experience
  • Supervisory background required
  • Ability to stay calm and objective under pressure
  • Must hold or obtain certifications such as Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid
  • Proficient in Windows Operating Systems
  • Strong communication skills
  • Availability to work overtime as this is an overtime eligible manager position (OEM)

Job Qualifications

  • At least five years of progressive hotel experience in Rooms or Food and Beverage
  • Four-year degree with 2-3 years of related experience or a two-year degree with 3-4 years of related experience
  • Proven supervisory background
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience in training and development
  • Familiarity with hotel financial management
  • Proficient in Windows Operating Systems
  • Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure
  • Certifications such as Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid are required or obtainable

Job Duties

  • Supervise multiple departments and drive hotel profitability by managing teams and partnering with the General Manager
  • Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges to ensure efficient daily hotel operation
  • Play a key role in recruiting, hiring, and training Guest Services staff
  • Support ongoing development programs and training for team members
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with colleagues and guests
  • Analyze financial data to support hotel operations
  • Utilize Windows Operating Systems for management and reporting
