Job Description
Piper Restaurant, located within The Seabird Resort in the vibrant and sunny city of Oceanside, California, offers guests a unique garden-to-table dining experience. Nestled just off the beach, this California-coastal styled restaurant serves fresh, locally sourced delicacies that emphasize the best of seasonal ingredients. The atmosphere shifts seamlessly from a bright, convivial spot perfect for morning breakfast and freshly pressed juices, to a warmly intimate evening destination featuring an open kitchen, full bar, and wraparound outdoor patio. This combination of a casual yet sophisticated ambiance makes Piper Restaurant a standout choice for both locals and visitors seeking a memorable dining experience. The restaurant operates as a part of the Hyatt portfolio, known for its exceptional hospitality standards and commitment to guest satisfaction. As an employer, Hyatt also offers a range of competitive benefits to support its colleagues in the hospitality industry.
The Expo Food Runner position at Piper Restaurant plays a critical role in ensuring a seamless and positive dining experience for guests. Tasked with the responsibility of accurately delivering food orders from the kitchen to diners, the Expo Food Runner acts as a vital link between the culinary team and the front-of-house service. This role demands excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of food preparation and service standards. The individual must work closely with kitchen staff to confirm accuracy and completeness of each order before it reaches the guest, thus upholding the high standards of both Piper Restaurant and Hyatt. Additionally, the Expo Food Runner contributes to the overall efficiency of the dining room by ensuring timely delivery of dishes, which is especially important in a fast-paced environment with frequent customer contact.
This full-time role offers an hourly wage of $17.50 and requires physical capability to lift, push, and pull moderate weights, as the nature of the job involves direct handling of food trays and service ware. Piper Restaurant seeks candidates with a background in food and beverage service—preferably one to five years of experience—and a genuine enthusiasm for hospitality. The role also involves a commitment to food safety, requiring a valid or obtainable food handler's card. Given the restaurant’s diversity of menu items and promotions, strong language skills are essential to communicate effectively with guests and team members alike.
Working at Piper Restaurant means joining a team dedicated to delivering an exceptional California coastal dining experience, supported by Hyatt’s extensive network of hospitality resources. Colleagues enjoy a variety of benefits, including unlimited discounted room rates at Hyatt hotels worldwide, holiday pay for working recognized holidays, complimentary employee meals, and a range of other perks designed to enhance the work-life balance and professional growth. Individuals passionate about customer service, food culture, and teamwork will find this position a rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and respected hospitality environment.
