Job Description

Piper restaurant is a distinguished dining establishment located within The Seabird Resort in picturesque Oceanside, California. Known for its fresh, garden-to-table delicacies, Piper offers guests an inviting California-coastal ambiance that perfectly complements its beachside location. The restaurant boasts a versatile setting, welcoming guests with bright, lively surroundings during the morning where fresh breakfast options and freshly pressed juices are served. As the day transitions to evening, Piper shifts into a warm, intimate dining experience featuring an open kitchen where diners can engage visually with the vibrant culinary process, a full-service bar catering to a variety of tastes, and a spacious wraparound outdoor patio that captures the essence of coastal dining and social atmosphere.

The Expo Food Runner role at Piper is integral to maintaining the restaurant's high service standards and smooth operational flow. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring that all orders from the kitchen reach guests accurately and promptly. Working closely with the kitchen team, the Expo Food Runner plays a critical role in verifying order correctness and quality before delivery to patrons. Given the fast-paced nature of the restaurant environment, this position demands someone with excellent communication skills and physical stamina, including the ability to lift, pull, and push moderate weight throughout their shift. The role is customer-facing, requiring continual interaction with guests and the restaurant team to enhance the overall dining experience. Piper values flexibility and adaptability in its staff, noting that daily responsibilities may evolve to meet changing business needs.

Piper offers this position with an attractive hourly wage of $17.50, reflecting the establishment's commitment to rewarding its team fairly. As part of Hyatt, the employer offers a comprehensive benefits package, evidencing their dedication to employee well-being and professional growth. Benefits include twelve complimentary hotel room nights annually at Hyatt properties worldwide, unlimited colleague and friends and family discounted room rates globally, and standard protections such as bereavement and jury duty pay. The benefits package further extends to vacation, sick leave, and new child leave provisions, alongside comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with additional perks like discounted prescriptions, life and disability insurance, and access to flexible spending accounts. A retirement savings plan with employer match (401K), an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, and complimentary employee meals complement the extensive offerings, ensuring that staff members have strong support both professionally and personally.

Applicants should possess between one to five years of previous food and beverage running experience and either have or be eligible to obtain a food handler's card. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of food and beverage preparation, service standards, and guest relations. Proficiency in the proper use of service ware, table settings, and menu item knowledge is essential. Candidates must demonstrate solid English language skills to understand orders, communicate promotions, and interact with guests clearly and effectively. Additionally, a strong memory to recall and promote the diverse menu offerings is necessary. Physical ability to perform tasks including lifting, pulling, and pushing moderate weight is also required.

Piper and Hyatt are committed to equal employment opportunities and welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status. This inclusive approach fosters a welcoming environment where all team members can thrive and contribute to delivering an outstanding guest experience.
