Job Description

The role of Expo at IHOP involves overseeing the flow of orders from the kitchen to the guests, ensuring that every dish leaving the kitchen meets the highest standards of quality, presentation, and accuracy. As an essential link between the kitchen staff and the guests, the Expo is responsible for managing the timely and precise preparation of all orders, including dine-in, take-out, and online orders. This position demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining hygiene and sanitation standards.

The Expo ensures that every order is thoroughly checked for completeness, correctness, and temperature before it reaches the guest. This includes controlling the cleanliness and readiness of trays, cutlery, silverware, and plateware, as well as assisting with preparing food and final touches on various dishes. The Expo acts as a point of contact for both kitchen staff and guests, addressing any special requests or needs, and guaranteeing that guests receive excellent service at all times.

Additionally, the Expo performs various supportive tasks throughout the service period, such as maintaining workstations, cleaning duties, monitoring ticket times to ensure efficiency, and following manager directions for miscellaneous tasks. During slower times, the Expo also engages with guests in the dining area to enhance their experience, offer upsell opportunities, and restock service stations.

This full-time role is critical to maintaining IHOP's high service standards and is ideal for candidates who enjoy a fast-paced environment, possess strong multitasking abilities, and are passionate about guest satisfaction. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in food service or restaurant environment preferred
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • strong attention to detail

  • knowledge of sanitation and safety regulations
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Plan and manage the order flow
  • make sure all orders are prepared in time
  • ensure all orders are complete and accurate
  • assist and manage the final preparation of different food and dishes
  • control and oversee dishes before they leave the kitchen window
  • ensure adherence to all relevant quality and sanitation rules and regulations
  • provide assistance in cleaning activities including tables, food trays, silverware, and plateware
  • serve as a contact point for the kitchen and guests
  • take care of guests with special needs and requests
  • ensure excellent guest service
  • ensure all To Go and online orders are built correctly and double checked
  • execute a variety of different tasks as needed in accordance with manager requests and directions
  • make sure workstation is clean and organized
  • check cleanliness and condition of trays, silverware and caddy
  • maintain sanitation buckets and towels
  • check kitchen printer and pagers are functional
  • stock station with necessary items
  • greet guests and manage pager system
  • communicate special requests
  • manage appetizer tickets
  • check dining room during slow times and provide additional service as needed
  • ensure all orders meet IHOP's presentation and temperature standards
