Job Description

Our establishment has proudly stood as the premier sushi restaurant in the heart of Manhattan for over 20 years. Located at the south end of Bryant Park, we offer guests a unique dining experience that combines modern and creative sushi with an upscale and inviting atmosphere. Through years of dedication, we have cultivated a reputation for excellence, attracting both locals and visitors who seek top-tier Japanese cuisine crafted with passion and precision. Our commitment to quality and innovation sets us apart in an area known for its vibrant culinary scene, making our restaurant a staple destination for sushi lovers. As a guest-focused establishment, we prioritize exceptional service and culinary creativity to ensure every visit is memorable and satisfying.

We are currently expanding our dynamic team and are searching for exceptional and creative sushi chefs to join us full-time. This role is designed for individuals who possess not only technical expertise but also a passion for sushi artistry and a drive to deliver an outstanding dining experience. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of New York City restaurant experience as a sushi chef, bringing a strong foundation in traditional Japanese techniques and knife skills. You will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi rice, butchering multiple fish and shellfish species with precision, and presenting dishes that are both visually appealing and flavorful. Maintaining product quality and safety standards is critical, as is the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing attention to detail.

In addition to food preparation, this position requires a collaborative approach to working with restaurant staff to accommodate special requests and allergy considerations, ensuring every guest feels valued and cared for. As part of the role, you will also play an educational part by sharing knowledge of Japanese ingredients, products, and cuisine with fellow employees, contributing to a team culture centered on culinary excellence and continuous learning. Candidates must have their own set of knives and be prepared to maintain clean, DOH-compliant sushi bar stations. Preferred qualifications include New York City Food Handler's Certification, reflecting our dedication to food safety and health standards.

This full-time position offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $25.00 to $29.00, with benefits including employee discounts, health insurance, paid sick time, paid time off, and paid training. Shifts may vary between 8 to 10 hours during day or evening hours, requiring open availability from candidates. This is an in-person role located in a bustling and vibrant area of Manhattan, perfect for culinary professionals looking to grow their skills within an esteemed and well-established restaurant environment. Join us to be part of a dedicated team where creativity, quality, and guest satisfaction are the highest priorities.
